Modern-Day Genocide
In the pages of this website are parts of the hidden story of Uganda’s secret genocide.
NEVER AGAIN?
Although the truth of human rights abuses and war crimes in Uganda have been extensively documented, average citizens remain uninformed about the true scope and origins of the genocide centered in the northern part of Uganda, partially due to a heavy propaganda campaign the Ugandan government and its image makers have waged in a bid to sanitize Uganda’s image.
Over 20 years of purposeful neglect have caused health, education and other basic systems to crumble, and a quiet genocide unfolds.
HOW DOES A WAR LAST FOR OVER 20 YEARS?
Frozen out of mainstream media, the brutality of the LRA has been used as a cover for the Ugandan government’s crimes against humanity, including the forced displacement of millions of northern Ugandans and the use of children in the national army and local militias.
Millions of Ugandans have been denied of the right to live in peace, the right to protection and the right to enjoy basic human rights. It hasn’t happened by accident, but by design, as a corrupt government turns genocide into business as usual.
While the West (led by Britain and the U.S.) backs Uganda’s increasingly undemocratic President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in office since 1986, his policies are slowly killing Ugandans, and his soldiers are routinely killing Congolese citizens. (The International Court of Justice found Uganda liable for war crimes in the DRC, where an estimated 5-6 million have perished in the last 10 years).
WHAT IS GENOCIDE?
Article II
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
- Killing members of the group;
- Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
- Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
- Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
- Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group

Take a stand for human rights, take a stand for peace. We must recognize genocide before it is too late.
